Douglas Belgium Review (2026): Is douglas.be Cheaper Than douglas.nl?

Disclosure: This is an independent guide based on Douglas’s own published policies and the prices on douglas.be and douglas.nl at the time of writing. We may earn a commission from some links on this site; it never changes what we recommend.

At first glance, douglas.be looks almost identical to its Dutch sister site. It has the same layout, the same “Member Weeks” banner, the same €25 free-shipping line and even the same recommended prices. So a lot of Belgian shoppers assume the prices are the same too.

They aren’t, always. We looked up 18 identical products, matched by Douglas’s own product and size codes, on both douglas.be and douglas.nl on the same day. Six cost exactly the same. The rest differed, sometimes by €20 to €28 on a single bottle. This guide shows where, explains what’s actually different about shopping Douglas in Belgium, and covers the shipping, returns and Beauty Card rules that apply to you.

Quick answer: Douglas.be is not consistently cheaper than douglas.nl. Of 18 identical products we compared, douglas.nl was cheaper on 9, douglas.be on 3, and 6 were the same price. The whole basket cost €68.59 (about 4%) more on douglas.be. The gaps are biggest on discounted fragrance: Armani Sì 50 ml was €118.15 in Belgium and €90.35 in the Netherlands. But douglas.nl only delivers to Dutch addresses, and Beauty Points don’t carry across borders, so for most people in Belgium douglas.be is the practical choice. It offers free delivery from €25 by bpost, free 14-day returns, Bancontact and PayPal.

Same site, different shop

Douglas Belgium is run by its own company, Douglas Cosmetics Belgium, with its own prices, stores and loyalty accounts. Douglas.be is bilingual, with a Dutch and a French version. The basics mirror the Netherlands, but a lot of the detail is different:

Douglas.be vs douglas.nl: the price check

douglas.be search results for Dior Sauvage with adviesprijs and price per litre

Both sites show the same “Adviesprijs*”, the brand’s recommended retail price, on most products. That’s where the similarity ends: each country sets its own selling price under it. Here’s what we found for 18 products, same size, same day:

Product douglas.be douglas.nl Belgium vs NL
Armani Sì Eau de Parfum, 50 ml €118,15 €90,35 +€27,80
Armani Sì Passione Eau de Parfum, 50 ml €113,00 €90,35 +€22,65
Lancôme La vie est belle L’Elixir, 100 ml €147,00 €127,40 +€19,60
Lancôme La vie est belle (refillable), 100 ml €110,56 €99,00 +€11,56
Dior Sauvage Parfum, 100 ml €158,95 €149,60 +€9,35
Lancôme Idôle Eau de Parfum, 100 ml €119,00 €113,00 +€6,00
Clinique Moisture Surge Active Glow serum, 50 ml €50,95 €44,99 +€5,96
Lancôme Lash Idôle Curl Goddess mascara €31,50 €29,99 +€1,51
Clinique Moisture Surge 100H, 50 ml €32,25 €31,99 +€0,26
Clinique Moisture Surge 100H, 75 ml €44,25 €44,25 same
Clinique Moisture Surge SPF 25, 50 ml €36,37 €36,37 same
Hugo Boss Boss Bottled Eau de Toilette, 100 ml €53,99 €53,99 same
Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Toilette, 100 ml €148,00 €148,00 same
Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum Intense, 100 ml €182,00 €182,00 same
Chanel Coco Mademoiselle L’Eau Privée, 100 ml €148,00 €148,00 same
Dior Sauvage Eau de Toilette, 60 ml €76,99 €78,99 −€2,00
Lancôme La vie est belle Vanille Nude, 100 ml €107,00 €113,10 −€6,10
Lancôme La vie est belle Rose Extraordinaire, 100 ml €107,00 €135,00 −€28,00

A few patterns are worth knowing:

  • Brands that don’t discount cost the same. Chanel sells at one price in both countries, with no adviesprijs shown. If you’re buying Chanel, it makes no difference which site you use.
  • Discounted fragrance is where the gaps are. Every product that differed by more than €10 was a perfume where Douglas sets its own discount. The Netherlands discounted Armani Sì by 35% off the recommended price, and Belgium by only 15%.
  • It cuts both ways. All four La vie est belle versions were priced differently, and Belgium was €28 cheaper on Rose Extraordinaire while being €19.60 more on L’Elixir. There’s no rule like “Belgium is always 5% more”.
  • Skincare barely moves. The Clinique Moisture Surge line was identical or within a few cents, with one exception (the Active Glow serum).

Prices on both sites change all the time, so treat this as a snapshot of how far they can drift apart, not as a permanent price list.

Can you just order from douglas.nl?

Not to a Belgian address. Douglas’s Dutch terms say douglas.nl delivers only to addresses in the Netherlands, and the Belgian terms say the same about Belgium. Gift cards are national too: both countries’ terms say a Douglas gift card bought abroad can’t be redeemed there. And Beauty Points from a Dutch account can only be redeemed in the Netherlands.

So the comparison is useful in two situations. If you live near the border, work in the Netherlands or have a Dutch address you can use, it can be worth checking douglas.nl for expensive fragrance. And if you’re about to pay €118 for Armani Sì on douglas.be, knowing it’s been €90 next door tells you that a Belgian promotion is likely to come round eventually. For everyday skincare and anything from Chanel, there’s nothing to gain.

Delivery in Belgium

Delivery is free from €25. Below that it’s €3.95, and delivery to a Douglas store is free. Orders shipped by Douglas usually arrive in 1 to 2 working days, normally between 08:00 and 18:00. Products from Douglas partners (other retailers selling through douglas.be) take 2 to 4 working days and arrive separately.

You can have your order delivered at home, at work, to someone else as a gift (there’s never an invoice in the box), to a Budbee parcel locker or to a bpost pick-up point. Small orders may come as a letterbox parcel. One handy bpost feature: with the tracking code you can change your delivery preferences up to the evening before, and choose to leave the parcel with a neighbour or in a safe place up to five minutes before it arrives.

Returns: free within 14 days

Online orders can be returned free of charge within 14 days. Register the return at retour.douglas.be, then use one of two options:

  • bpost: print the label and drop the parcel at a bpost post office, PostPunt or parcel point (Bbox). Check beforehand that your chosen point accepts parcels.
  • A Douglas store: bring the parcel and a printed copy of your invoice. Douglas says it can’t process a store return without it.

Refunds are processed within 3 to 5 working days of the return being approved. As in the Netherlands, Klarna orders can’t be returned in a store, any gift or sample that came with a product has to go back with it, partner products follow their own return form, and opened sealed products can be excluded for hygiene reasons. If you used a coupon with a minimum spend and a return takes you under it, the coupon discount is deducted from your refund.

Paying

Douglas.be accepts Bancontact (app, QR code or card), PayPal, Klarna (pay now or within 30 days), Visa, Mastercard and Diners Club, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Douglas gift cards. You can also pay in the store when you collect an order there. Fashioncheques and One4all gift cards aren’t accepted, online or in store.

The Beauty Card in Belgium

The programme works the same way as in the Netherlands, on a separate Belgian account:

  • 1 Beauty Point and 1 Status Point per euro, online or in Belgian stores (log in, or have your card scanned). No points on gift cards, books or shipping.
  • 5 Beauty Points per product review, up to 5 a day and 10 a month.
  • 50 Beauty Points for signing up and subscribing to the newsletter, plus a welcome gift on your first online order (code NEWMEMBER when we checked).
  • Status: Gold from 150 Status Points a year and Platinum from 500. Points show up after 14 days.

A small warning: parts of the Belgian help pages are copied from the Dutch site and still mention douglas.nl and Dutch stores. The rules that apply to you are the Belgian ones, so if something looks off, the Belgian customer service address is [email protected].

How we’d shop douglas.be

  1. Log in before you pay so every euro earns points.
  2. Check the price per litre. Douglas.be prints it under every product, and it’s the quickest way to see whether the 100 ml is really better value than the 50 ml.
  3. For fragrance over €100, check douglas.nl if you can use a Dutch address, or wait for a Belgian promotion if the gap is large.
  4. Don’t bother comparing Chanel or everyday Clinique. They were the same price in both countries.
  5. Print the invoice if you plan to return something in a store.
  6. Pick your two free samples (douglas.be calls them “staaltjes”) to test a scent before committing to a full bottle.

Frequently asked questions

Is Douglas cheaper in Belgium or the Netherlands?

Neither, consistently. In our comparison of 18 identical products, douglas.nl was cheaper on 9, douglas.be on 3, and 6 cost the same. Overall the basket was about 4% more expensive on douglas.be. Brands like Chanel cost the same in both.

Can I order from douglas.nl and have it delivered in Belgium?

No. Douglas.nl only delivers to addresses in the Netherlands, and douglas.be only to addresses in Belgium. Beauty Points and Douglas gift cards are also tied to the country where you got them.

How much does Douglas Belgium charge for shipping?

Delivery is free on orders of €25 or more. Below €25 it costs €3.95, unless you choose delivery to a Douglas store.

What is the Douglas Belgium return policy?

Returns are free within 14 days. Register at retour.douglas.be and drop the parcel at a bpost point, or take it to a Douglas store with a printed invoice. Klarna orders can’t be returned in store.

Can I pay with Bancontact at Douglas?

Yes. Douglas.be accepts Bancontact by app, QR code or card, as well as PayPal, Klarna, Visa, Mastercard, Diners Club, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Douglas gift cards.

Does douglas.be have a French version?

Yes. The site is available in Dutch and French; you can switch language at the top of the page.

The short version

Douglas.be is a solid way to buy beauty in Belgium: free delivery from €25, free 14-day returns, Bancontact and PayPal, and a loyalty card that’s easy to level up. Just don’t assume it matches the Dutch price. Fragrance in particular can be €20 or more apart, in either direction. If you can use a Dutch address, it’s worth a quick check on big-ticket perfume; otherwise, use the price per litre and wait for a promotion on anything that looks high.
