SHEIN Shipping Times and Costs Explained (US)

SHEIN’s delivery estimate is not a promise, and the company says so in its own help pages. It is a statistical window built from what happened to previous orders. Once you understand that, the two questions worth asking are what each shipping option costs and which parts of your basket will push the parcel outside that window.

Quick answer: In the US, SHEIN standard shipping is free on orders over $29.00, or over $15.00 on Sundays and Thursdays and on your first order. Below that it costs $3.99. Express costs $12.90, dropping to $7.90 on orders over $139.00. SHEIN reports that about 77% of standard orders arrive within seven business days and about 79% of express orders within six.

What each option costs

SHEIN US shipping options and fees: standard $3.99, free over $29, express from $7.90

The free shipping thresholds move by day of the week, which is the single most useful thing on this page. “On Sundays and Thursdays, free standard shipping is available on orders over $15.00. On all other days, free standard shipping is available on orders over $29.00,” writes SHEIN on its shipping information page. If your basket sits at $18 on a Tuesday, waiting two days saves you $3.99 for doing nothing.

New customers get a separate concession: free standard shipping on a first order over $15.00. And there is a trap on the other side. Cancelling an item after you order can drop the total back under the threshold, at which point the shipping fee is added to the order. Cancel a $12 item from a $30 basket and you have just bought yourself a delivery charge.

How long it actually takes

According to SHEIN’s shipping information page, the delivery window shown at checkout is calculated from historical data on when most orders were delivered, and the site publishes a live on-time rate next to each option. At the time of writing that figure sits at roughly 77% of standard orders delivered in seven business days or fewer, and roughly 79% of express orders in six or fewer.

Read those numbers the way an airline reads on-time performance. Most parcels land inside the window. One in four or five does not, and no amount of refreshing the tracking page changes that. Build the buffer into your planning: if you need something for a specific date, order it two weeks out or pay for express, and do neither during a major sale.

What pushes a parcel outside the window

What slows a SHEIN parcel: preorder items, marketplace sellers, sale peaks and rural addresses

SHEIN lists the causes plainly: flight arrangements, weather, processing delays, carrier delays and other unexpected factors. In practice, four things account for most late parcels.

  1. Preorder or customised items in the basket. The whole order waits for the slowest line. If you want the rest quickly, order the preorder item separately.
  2. Marketplace items. These are processed or shipped by a third-party seller rather than by SHEIN, so they follow that seller’s timetable.
  3. Sale campaigns and holiday peaks. Volume rises, warehouses back up, and the estimate stretches.
  4. Rural delivery addresses. The final leg is the slow one, and SHEIN says so directly.

The “Local” label is worth looking for

“Items marked ‘Local’ ship from a U.S. warehouse,” says SHEIN, with the caveat that if the item is unavailable locally it ships from an international warehouse instead and takes longer. Filtering toward Local stock is the simplest way to shorten delivery without paying for express.

This matters more since the tariff rules changed in 2025. Duties are now included in the price you see at checkout rather than billed on arrival, so the customs question is settled before you pay. What is not settled is the routing, and a parcel already sitting in a US warehouse skips an entire international leg.

Tracking, and the button people forget

Tracking updates live in My Orders and in the app. When the parcel lands, there is a Confirm Delivery button on the order, and pressing it is what releases the loyalty points for that purchase. Points are credited after you confirm delivery, not when the order ships, which is why so many shoppers wonder where their points went.

If a parcel is genuinely lost or arrives damaged, contact customer service through the order rather than by email. For faulty or damaged goods, according to SHEIN’s US return policy you have 90 days from the order date to raise it, which is a longer window than the 30-day return period for changing your mind.

Frequently asked questions

How long does SHEIN take to deliver in the US?

SHEIN publishes a live on-time rate rather than a fixed transit time. At the time of writing, about 77% of standard orders arrive within seven business days and about 79% of express orders within six. The estimate at checkout is calculated from historical delivery data, not guaranteed.

How do I get free shipping on SHEIN?

Standard shipping is free on orders over $29.00 on most days, and over $15.00 on Sundays and Thursdays. First orders over $15.00 also ship free. Below those thresholds standard shipping costs $3.99. Cancelling an item that drops your total under the threshold adds the fee back.

Why is my SHEIN order taking so long?

The usual causes are a preorder or customised item holding up the whole order, a marketplace item shipped by a third-party seller, a sale campaign creating a warehouse backlog, or a rural delivery address. SHEIN also lists weather, flight arrangements and carrier delays as factors.

What does the Local label mean on SHEIN?

It means the item ships from a US warehouse rather than internationally, which normally shortens delivery. SHEIN notes that if the item turns out to be unavailable locally, it will be shipped from an international warehouse instead and may take longer than the Local label suggests.

Do I pay customs on a SHEIN order?

Not separately on a standard US order. Since the de minimis exemption ended in 2025, import duties are built into the price shown at checkout instead of being billed on delivery. Marketplace orders shipped by third-party sellers can follow different rules, so check the listing.

The practical routine

Order on a Thursday or Sunday if your basket is between $15 and $29, filter for Local stock, keep preorder items in their own order, and treat the estimate as a range rather than a date. That covers almost everything you can control.

Before you order, it is worth reading our SHEIN sizing guide, since a parcel that arrives fast in the wrong size is still a wasted week, and our review of whether SHEIN is legit if this is your first order.
