Under Armour Review (2026): Shipping, Returns, Discounts and the Outlet

Disclosure: This is an independent guide. Some links below are affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. It never changes what we recommend.

Most people don’t need convincing about Under Armour’s gear. Plenty of us have a HeatGear shirt that’s been through a few hundred washes and still won’t die. What’s less obvious is whether you should buy it from Under Armour’s own US site or just grab it wherever it’s cheapest that week.

I went through UA.com’s shipping page, the full return policy, the discount rules, the Armour Access terms and a big chunk of the Outlet section to find out. Buying direct gets you a few useful perks. It also comes with some fine print that’s easy to miss, starting with the fact that a lot of the classic baselayers won’t take a promo code at all.

Quick answer: Buying from UA.com is worth it if you value returns and perks over squeezing out the lowest price. Standard shipping is $8, free on orders of $99 or more. Returns are free for 60 days, and orders placed between November 1 and December 31 get 90 days. Items have to be unworn and unwashed with tags on. Military, first responders, nurses, teachers and students can get 20% off through ID.me or UNiDAYS. Only one promo code works per order, and many core HeatGear and ColdGear baselayers are excluded from promo codes entirely. The Outlet runs to about 1,750 items, mostly 20–30% off.

Why buy direct at all?

Under Armour sells through big sporting-goods chains and Amazon too, and you’ll sometimes find a better price there. So what does buying direct actually get you?

  • UA’s own return policy. Free returns for 60 days, plus exchanges for a different size or colour online. UA’s policy says plainly that it doesn’t cover gear bought from other retailers, so anything from a third-party store goes back under that store’s rules.
  • Armour Access points. The loyalty program (the new name for UA Rewards) only earns points on UA.com, the UA app and participating Brand House and Factory House stores.
  • A 10-day price adjustment. If something you bought on UA.com drops in price within 10 days, UA says it will honour the difference.
  • Full size runs. Tall sizes (2 inches longer than regular) and the full XS–4XL range on the core baselayers are easier to find on UA’s own site than on a crowded retailer shelf.

The trade-off is price. Other retailers set their own sale prices, and as you’ll see below, UA.com’s promo codes don’t work on many of the classics, so a quick price check before you pay full price is worth it.

Shipping costs and delivery times

Here’s what UA.com charges in the US, from its shipping page:

Method Delivery time Cost
Standard 3–5 business days $8, free on $99+
Express 3 business days $15
Priority Within 2 business days $25
APO / FPO / DPO 4–6 weeks, via USPS Shown at checkout

Times are based on orders placed by noon Eastern and don’t count weekends or holidays. A few other details worth knowing:

  • Express is quoted at 3 business days, which is only the fast end of Standard’s 3–5 day window. If you’re paying for speed, Priority is the one that actually changes anything.
  • Orders mostly ship from Baltimore, with some going out of California or Tennessee, so a big order can arrive in more than one box on different days.
  • There’s no Saturday delivery and no ship-to-store option.
  • Original shipping charges aren’t refunded if you send things back. That’s one more reason to get over $99 rather than pay $8 on a $60 order you might return.

Returns and exchanges: the fine print

UA’s headline is “free returns,” and that’s true. The free part is easy. The conditions are where people get caught out. The full policy says:

  • 60 days from purchase, with proof of purchase. For orders placed from November 1 to December 31, UA typically extends that to 90 days, and this year’s return-policy data on product pages shows exactly that window.
  • Gear can’t be worn, used, washed, altered or opened, and needs its original tags. Shoes need the original box in good condition.
  • Returns outside the policy aren’t sent back to you. UA says they’re donated or discarded, and no refund is issued.
  • UA can limit how many returns you make, even with receipts.

That “unworn and unwashed” line matters more than it sounds. If you’re not sure about the fit of a compression shirt, try it on at home over underwear, check it in the mirror and decide before you train in it. After one sweaty session it isn’t returnable under this policy.

Returning loose, unboxed athletic clothing at a return drop-off counter by scanning a QR code

The actual process is easy. Start the return from your order history or at ua.com/returnlabel, then choose a Happy Returns drop-off point or UPS. With Happy Returns you don’t need a box or a label: you show a QR code, hand over the items, and the refund starts once they’re scanned, showing on your original payment method within 3–5 business days. UPS returns are refunded after the warehouse processes them, which UA says can take up to 14 business days.

A few less obvious rules:

  • Exchanges work online, for a different size or colour, within the same 60 days. But if there’s no Happy Returns location near you and you paid with a gift card, Apple Pay, PayPal or Klarna, you’ll have to return the item and reorder instead.
  • Online orders can go back to a store, either a Brand House (full-price stores) or a Factory House (outlet stores). But Factory House purchases can’t be returned at a Brand House.
  • PayPal purchases returned in a store come back as a UA gift card, not to PayPal. Return them by mail if you want the money back in PayPal.
  • Separate orders need separate packages and labels.
  • UA doesn’t do repairs. If something fails, the return policy is your only route.

Discounts: what stacks and what doesn’t

UA has more discount programs than most brands, but the rules for combining them are strict. Here’s how they fit together:

Discount Who gets it Combines with a promo code?
ID.me: 20% off Military (active, veterans, retirees, spouses, dependents), police, firefighters, EMTs, nurses, teachers and students. Verified at checkout No
UNiDAYS: extra 20% off College students, online only No
Promo codes Anyone. One code per order; the first one you enter is the one that sticks Only one allowed
Armour Access dollar certificates Members, redeemed with points Yes, with most offers
Armour Card During promo periods: spend $100+ on UA.com, get a $20 code for a later order of $100+ Check the offer terms

Three things I’d flag here.

Many classic baselayers are excluded from promo codes. Of the 13 HeatGear, ColdGear and UA Base product pages I checked, 9 carried the line “This item is excluded from any promo codes and offers,” including the $35 HeatGear compression tee, the $60 ColdGear compression mock and the $110 UA Base 4.0 crew. The four that didn’t were the new ColdGear NEOLAST mock, two women’s ColdGear pieces and the ColdGear balaclava hoodie. So if you’re stocking up on the classics, a 15%-off code probably won’t touch them. The wording says “offers” too, so add the item to your cart and check whether your ID.me or student discount applies before you count on it. For a fuller breakdown of those lines, see our HeatGear vs ColdGear guide.

The ID.me percentage depends on where you shop. UA’s help centre says 20% online and in Brand House stores, but 10% in Factory House stores. One older answer on UA’s shipping page still mentions a 10% military discount online, so check that 20% shows up in your cart before you pay. The discount doesn’t apply to gift cards, “select footwear” or other items marked as excluded.

Site-wide promos come with their own exclusions. At the start of November, UA.com was running 15% off full-price men’s gear, applied automatically in the cart. It didn’t combine with ID.me, and the usual exclusions applied. If you qualify for ID.me, the 20% is usually the better deal.

Armour Access: is the loyalty program worth joining?

It’s free, so the real question is whether it’s worth the marketing emails. Joining opts you in to them, though you can unsubscribe and keep your points. You have to be a US resident aged 16 or over.

  • Earning: 5 points per $1 of net spend (after discounts, returns, shipping, tax and gift cards). Approved product reviews earn points too, but only one a month. Adding your birthday or phone number earns 25 points each, and you get double points on a purchase in your birthday month.
  • Spending: points go toward “Checkout Win” dollar certificates, select gear and experiences. UA doesn’t publish the points-to-dollars rate outside your account Locker, so you can’t work out the cash value until you’re signed in.
  • Expiry: points expire after 365 days with no activity. One purchase a year keeps them alive.
  • Returns claw points back: points from returned items are deducted, and your balance can go negative if you’ve already spent them. While it’s negative, you can’t redeem anything.
  • Forgot to sign up? Join within 7 days of a purchase, using the same email, and that purchase still counts.

Members also get early access to some drops and sales, plus the chance to enter sweepstakes. If you buy UA a couple of times a year, join. The certificates stack with most offers, which is more than you can say for promo codes.

The Outlet: how deep do the discounts go?

The Outlet section on UA.com listed 1,754 items when I looked. I went through the first five pages in the default sort (120 discounted items) to see what the discounts really look like:

  • The median discount was 23%, ranging from 6% to 39% off.
  • Most items (70 of 120) were 20–29% off; 17 were 30% or more.
  • Every Outlet price ended in .97, like a $65 Icon Fleece hoodie at $48.97 or $110 Unstoppable cargo pants at $82.97. That’s a handy way to spot an Outlet price.
A rack of discounted fleece hoodies and quarter-zips in a sportswear outlet store

So the Outlet is a steady 20–30% off, not a clearance bin. What’s in it is mostly fleece, golf and training pieces, polos and older running shoes. Not one of the 120 items I sampled was a HeatGear, ColdGear or UA Base baselayer; those stay at full price.

The in-store version is the Factory House. Remember the return rule from earlier: Factory House purchases can go back to any Factory House or by mail, but not to a Brand House. If you’ve ever wondered how much a crossed-out “was” price is really worth, our guide to judging online sale prices covers the general problem.

Getting the size right the first time

Because worn gear can’t be returned, sizing matters more than usual. UA’s men’s tops chart goes by chest: Medium is 37–41 inches, Large is 41–44, XL is 44–48. Tall sizes add 2 inches of length.

Measuring chest size with a tape measure before ordering a baselayer

Fit is the bigger variable. UA labels everything with one of six fits, from Compression (ultra-tight) through Tight, Fitted, Regular and Relaxed to Oversized. The same chest size feels completely different across them. On the compression baselayers, reviewers consistently say they run small and that they sized up. Measure your chest with a soft tape before you order, check the fit label on the product page, and try everything on at home before you wear it out.

Who should buy from UA.com, and who shouldn’t

Buy direct if you qualify for ID.me or UNiDAYS, if you need Tall sizes or less common sizes, if you’re likely to exchange for a different size, or if you buy UA often enough for Armour Access points to add up. The holiday return window also makes November and December a good time to buy gifts.

Shop around if all you want is a couple of classic HeatGear or ColdGear pieces with no discount eligibility. They’re full price and promo-proof on UA.com, so a retailer running its own sale may beat it. Just remember that anything bought elsewhere goes back under that retailer’s return rules, not UA’s.

Frequently asked questions

Does Under Armour have free shipping?

Yes, on orders of $99 or more. Below that, standard shipping (3 to 5 business days) is $8. Express is $15 and Priority is $25. Original shipping charges aren’t refunded if you return the order.

What is Under Armour’s return policy?

Returns are free within 60 days with proof of purchase, and orders placed between November 1 and December 31 typically get 90 days. Items must be unworn, unwashed and have their original tags, and shoes need their original box. You can drop items at a Happy Returns location with no box or label, ship them via UPS, or take them to a UA store.

Does Under Armour offer a military discount?

Yes. Under Armour gives 20% off online and in Brand House stores to active duty, veterans, retirees and military families, verified through ID.me at checkout. First responders, nurses, teachers and students qualify too. In Factory House stores, the discount is 10%. It can’t be combined with promo codes.

Can I use more than one promo code on UA.com?

No. UA.com accepts one promo code per order, and codes can’t be combined with ID.me or UNiDAYS discounts unless the offer says so. Armour Access dollar certificates can be combined with most offers. Many core HeatGear and ColdGear baselayers are excluded from promo codes entirely.

What happened to UA Rewards?

UA Rewards is now called Armour Access. It’s the same account and your points carried over. Members earn 5 points per $1 of net spend, and points expire after 365 days without activity.

How much are things in the Under Armour Outlet?

In a sample of 120 Outlet items, the median discount was 23%, with most items between 20% and 30% off and a few close to 40%. Outlet prices end in .97. The core baselayers are rarely included.

The short version

UA.com is a good place to buy Under Armour if you’ll use what it offers: the 60-day free returns (90 over the holidays), online exchanges, the 20% ID.me or UNiDAYS discount and Armour Access points. Get over $99 for free shipping, try everything on at home before you wear it, and don’t expect promo codes to work on the classic baselayers. For those, compare prices first. And if you want a deal without a code, the Outlet sits at about 20–30% off pretty much all the time.
