On douglas.ro, a 30 ml bottle of Dior Sauvage Eau de Parfum costs 475 lei. So does the 60 ml. Same perfume, same seller, same product page: double the perfume for the same money, and nothing on the page points it out.
That’s the most extreme case we found, but not the only one. On Douglas Romania, what you pay for a fragrance depends far more on which size you tick than on any sale badge. The size list has a couple of other surprises as well: refills that cost more per ml than the bottle they’re meant to refill, and duplicate sizes from marketplace sellers priced up to 83% higher than Douglas’s own.
We went through the size list for 15 best-selling perfumes on douglas.ro, 67 sizes in all, and noted the price, the price per ml and who actually sells each one. We also read Douglas Romania’s help pages on delivery, returns, payment and the Beauty Card. Prices are in lei (RON); the euro is worth about 5.3 lei.
Quick answer: Douglas.ro is the Romanian webshop of the German beauty chain Douglas, run by Parfumerie Douglas SRL. Delivery costs 18 lei, or nothing from 199 lei, and it’s free with no minimum if you pick up at a Douglas store. Couriers (DPD, Fan Courier or Sameday) take 1 to 3 working days to your door or a locker. You can pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna or cash on delivery (ramburs). Online orders can be returned free within 14 days if you start the return from your account. On perfume, the biggest bottle Douglas sells itself was typically about 40% cheaper per ml than the smallest, but read the “RON / 1 ml” line every time: some sizes cost as much as a bottle twice their size, and sizes marked “Livrare prin Douglas Partner” come from third-party sellers and cost more.
How to read the size list on douglas.ro
Every perfume page on douglas.ro lists its sizes one under another, and each line carries up to five numbers. Only one of them helps you compare sizes:
- PRP (preț recomandat de producător) is the brand’s recommended retail price. It isn’t a price Douglas charged before. Because most fragrances show one, nearly everything on the site looks discounted.
- The bold price is what you pay.
- Cel mai mic preț din ultimele 30 de zile is the lowest price in the last 30 days. Douglas.ro shows it on most products, even ones that aren’t on offer. More on why it matters below.
- RON / 1 ml is the price per millilitre. This is the line to compare sizes on.
- Puncte beauty are the Beauty Card points you’d earn, one for every 5 lei.
One thing to watch: the list often opens with only some sizes showing. Click “Afișează toate … dimensiunile” (show all sizes) before you decide. On Dior Sauvage Eau de Toilette, the 300 ml refill only appears after you expand it.
Is the bigger bottle always cheaper per ml?
Usually, and by a lot. Across the 15 perfumes, the largest bottle Douglas sells itself cost between 30% and 71% less per ml than the smallest one. Dior Sauvage EDP had the widest gap: 15.83 lei per ml for 30 ml against 4.53 lei for 200 ml.

So bigger is better, most of the time. The exceptions are where you either overpay or get a bargain:
- Dior Sauvage EDP: 30 ml and 60 ml were both 475 lei. If you’re tempted by the small bottle, there’s no reason to buy it.
- Dior Sauvage EDT: 60 ml was 499 lei, 100 ml was 549 lei. Fifty lei more gets you 40 ml extra, which makes the 60 ml the worst-value size on the page after the 30 ml.
- Chanel Coco Mademoiselle EDP: the 50 ml (683 lei, 13.66 lei per ml) cost slightly more per ml than the 35 ml (475 lei, 13.57). It’s the only case where going up a size cost more per ml. Chanel showed no PRP and no 30-day line at all, which usually means the price hasn’t changed recently.
- Givenchy L’Interdit EDP: 35 ml and 50 ml came out at the same price per ml (8.43 and 8.38 lei). The saving only starts at 80 ml.
- 10 ml travel sprays are the dearest way to buy. Armani Stronger With You Intensely cost 13.50 lei per ml in 10 ml against 3.82 lei in 150 ml, and Valentino’s 10 ml Born in Roma Donna worked out at 16 lei per ml, the highest in our sample.
Refills: sometimes cheaper, sometimes not
A refill only makes sense if you already own the refillable bottle, and even then it isn’t automatically the cheap option. Three were good value: the 100 ml La Vie est Belle refill (477 lei, 4.77 lei per ml, against 5.79 for the 100 ml bottle), Prada Paradoxe’s 100 ml refill (5.49 against 6.81 for 90 ml) and YSL Libre’s 100 ml refill (5.39 against 6.92 for 90 ml). Dior’s weren’t. The 300 ml Sauvage EDT refill cost 1,363 lei, or 4.54 lei per ml, more than the 200 ml bottle at 4.18. The Sauvage EDP refill was the same story: 5.26 lei per ml against 4.53 for the 200 ml.
Watch out for “Douglas Partner” sizes
Not every size in the list is sold by Douglas. Some come from “Douglas Partner” sellers, third-party shops that list their stock on douglas.ro. In our sample, 8 of the 67 sizes were partner listings, spread across 5 of the 15 perfumes, and every one was dearer per ml than a size Douglas sold itself:

A few of these are hard to make sense of. The partner’s 30 ml Born in Roma Donna cost more than Douglas’s 50 ml. The 100 ml My Way refill, the thing you buy to save money on a refillable bottle, was 182 lei dearer than Douglas’s full 90 ml bottle.
Partner products also come with fewer perks. Douglas’s terms say they don’t get the free samples, gifts with purchase or gift wrapping, can’t be paid cash on delivery or collected from a store, and ship separately from the rest of your order (you still pay just one delivery fee).
How to spot them: partner sizes don’t show a PRP or a 30-day price line, so a size with just a bare price is the first clue. That isn’t proof on its own, though: Chanel and Hugo Boss Bottled sizes are sold by Douglas without a PRP too. To be sure, select the size and look under the “Adăugați în coș” button. Partner sizes say “Livrare prin Douglas Partner” there.
Codes, the 30-day price and when to wait
Douglas Romania runs regular code promotions for Beauty Card members. The one running when we checked took 25% off orders of at least 299 lei. Two things are worth knowing.
First, on the product pages we looked at, the code box only appeared on sizes that weren’t already reduced, the ones without a PRP. That can flip the size maths. The 60 ml Sauvage EDT drops from 499 to 374.25 lei with the code, or 6.24 lei per ml. That still isn’t as cheap per ml as the 100 ml at 549 lei, which wasn’t eligible. The 300 ml refill, though, falls to 1,022.25 lei, or 3.41 lei per ml, and becomes the cheapest way to buy Sauvage EDT if you already own the bottle. The 299 lei minimum matters too: a 135 lei travel spray won’t qualify on its own.
Second, look at the 30-day line before you buy something that isn’t on promotion. Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male EDT 125 ml was 652 lei, but its lowest price in the previous 30 days was 415 lei: it had been 237 lei cheaper within the month. Boss Bottled 100 ml was 633 lei against a 30-day low of 473. Prices like these have usually just come back up after a promotion ended. If you can wait, the lower price is likely to come round again.
Delivery: 18 lei, free from 199 lei
Standard delivery costs 18 lei (about €3.40) and is free on orders of 199 lei or more. The 199 lei is counted after discounts, so a code can push you back under the line. Douglas advertises two free samples with every order and says parcels take about 1 to 3 working days.

Two catches with store pick-up. Douglas’s terms say Click & Collect orders don’t get the free samples or gifts with purchase, so if you’re after those, have it delivered. And Douglas’s own pages disagree on how long they’ll hold your order: 5 working days in the returns policy, 7 days on the delivery help page and 10 days on the Click & Collect page. After 5 working days the order can be cancelled, so collect within that.
Douglas’s store finder lists shops in around 30 towns and cities, with about a dozen in and around Bucharest, so for most people there’s one within reach.
Paying
Douglas.ro takes Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Diners cards (charged only when the order ships), Apple Pay, Google Pay and ramburs, cash to the courier on delivery. Klarna lets you pay within 30 days or spread the cost over 6, 12 or 24 months; check Klarna’s terms for what that costs before you choose it. Cash on delivery isn’t available for locker deliveries or for partner products.
Returns: 14 days online, 30 days in store
For online orders, you have 14 days from delivery to withdraw. Returns are free, but only if you start them through Douglas: in your account, open “Comenzile mele” and click “Returnează comanda”, and a courier contacts you to arrange collection. Send it back another way and you pay the postage. Parcels no longer include a paper return form. If you ordered as a guest, use “Verificați comanda” with your email address and order number.
The product has to come back unused, with the seal and packaging intact and any free samples or gifts that came with it. Once you’ve broken the seal on a perfume, you can’t return it under the 14-day right. The help pages say refunds go back to the original payment method within 14 days. The terms add that withdrawal refunds are paid to a bank account and never in cash, so if you paid on delivery, expect to be asked for an IBAN.
Things are more generous in the shops. Douglas Romania accepts returns of products bought in a store within 30 days, including promotional items, as long as they’re unopened and sealed and you have the receipt (or a bank statement for card payments). Engraved products are excluded. If you paid partly with vouchers or a Douglas gift card, only the part you paid in cash or by card comes back as money.
The Douglas Beauty Card
The Beauty Card is free and lives in your Douglas account or the app. The welcome offer is decent:

Sign up before your first order, not after: points can’t be added retroactively. We’d save the 15% code for something that’s rarely discounted, such as Chanel.
How we’d buy perfume on douglas.ro
- Expand every size and compare the “RON / 1 ml” line, not the bottle price.
- Buy the biggest bottle you’ll realistically finish. Typically it’s about 40% cheaper per ml. The exceptions are the ones above.
- Skip “Livrare prin Douglas Partner” sizes unless Douglas doesn’t sell that perfume in a size you want.
- Check the 30-day line. If it’s far below today’s price, wait for the next promotion.
- Use code promotions on sizes without a PRP, and make sure the order reaches the minimum.
- Get to 199 lei for free delivery and the two samples, or collect in store if you don’t care about samples.
- Keep perfume sealed until you’re sure. Broken seals end your 14-day return right.
